January 27th 2025: Recently Bryon Allen’s Media Group announced the firing of 100 weather casters at its local television stations across the country. Allen Media Broadcasting had previously purchased the national channel The Weather Channel which broadcasts across the country on cable, satellite and, streaming.
The local weather casters will now be replaced by weather forecast segments filmed at The Weather Channel studios that will be sent to each local station. Over recent days we have seen many sad goodbyes in many markets as the weather casters have said goodbye to their audiences. At least they were allowed to say goodbye to their audiences instead of just being removed from the air.
This move is being spun as improving coverage by using the resource’s of The Weather Channel with its national hosts and technology. Its is a cost saving measure that also gets more out of The Weather Channel.
Allen Media Broadcasting later announced that it has stopped the firings although i don’t know what that means for weather casters who have already gone. It also has said if this was because of local backlash at its local station or if this is just a temporary halt.
