The CBS Evenning News with new host Katie Couric was number one in the ratings for her first two weeks but last week NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams retook that crown. The Nightly News show finished first with 8.2 million viewers on NBC followed by The CBS Evenning News with 7.7 million viewers and right behind World News Tonight which Charles Gibson at 7.6 million viewers. The fact that the CBS Evenning News dropped to second isn’t that big of a surprise a lot of the viewers were tuning in because they were curious to see how Katie Couric was as a host. The key over the long term is to see how the numbers settle and who builds the best following of the three hosts.
