January 16th 2023: Ahead of the planned Spring merger of the HBO Max streaming service with Discovery Plus, Warner Bros has raised the monthly price of HBO Max effective immediately, The price of HBO Max with no ads monthly subscription has increased from $14.99 to $15.99 plus taxes.
This price increase is the first increase since the service launched two years ago but now makes one of the most expensive streaming services even more expensive. If you are a current subscriber you will see the price increase on your next billing cycle after Saturday February 11th.
HBO Max has been in the news a lot recently after pulling content from the service such as Westworld and Looney Tunes cartoons as wells as past drama concerning cancelling movies or canceling the show Minx after it had been renewed. The $1 increase might not make much of an increase but HBO Max is already one of the most expensive streaming services so some people may decide to cancel.
