January 2nd 2023: Its a new year but it doesn’t look like HBO Max isn’t done cutting its streaming library ahead of merging it with the Discovery Plus service. The latest content to be cut is half of its collection of Looney Tunes cartoons on the service.
The Cartoon News is reporting that there is now 15 seasons of the Looney Tunes shorts available instead of the previous 31 seasons. This move is likely another cost cutting move ahead of the merger of content but its also possible Warner Bros licensed those seasons exclusively to another service such as one of the many free ad supported services.
One of the selling points for these streaming services at the beginning was you will have access to all the old catalog programs but as we are seeing with all the services is that is not true; You would expect shows licensed to a streamer to disappear from time to time but shows made by the steaming services themselves disappearing from a service was a shock to many. That being said there is still a large amount of Looney Tune cartoons to watch at least they didn’t completely disappear like Westworld did from the service.
