January 24th 2023: The plan by the Rupert Murdoch to remerge News Corporation and Fox Corporation after a lukewarm reaction from Wall Street is over. The decision to withdraw stops what would have been the combining assets such as Fox Broadcasting, Fox New Channel, Fox Sports with the publishing side such as Dow Jones & Company, Harper Collins Publishing as well as his various newspapers around the world.
In 2017 Fox sold off its studio assets such as the 21st Century Fox movie studios and library to Disney. The dividing of the company at the time was described as a way to for a way to separate the higher growth broadcasting companies away from the slower growth publishing companies. Since then with the increase of cable cutters as well as the streaming wars the broadcast growth has slowed.
