January 30th 2023: In the completive world of the streaming wars a name of a brand or service is always possible to change. The first name change that comes to mind is after Discovery Plus and HBO Max merge their services fully the HBO Max name will be gone; Although HBO is likely to be around as a sub category of the newly rebranded service.
Today it was announced that the Paramount Plus service and the Showtime service will be branded under one name later this year. Showtime like HBO was one of the pioneer cable premium movie services and it will be a shame if they decide to get rid of the name completely.
Right now if you are a subscriber to the Paramount Plus premium tier with Showtime added, last year they made the Showtime content available available under the Paramount Plus app without requiring the separate Showtime app.
