December 26th 2022: I must admit i was looking forward to seeing Sylvester Stallone to come to the small screen seeing him star as the lead in Tulsa King on Paramount Plus. My only concern was at 75 years old could Sylvester Stallone hold his own as a mob capo in what would be a physical role.
After watching each new episode i must say im impressed by Sylvester Stallone as the Mafia capo who spends 25 years in prison then gets out with a changed world. He plays Dwight Manfredi who is sent by his Mafia family to the middle of nowhere Tulsa, Oklahoma to start of his new crime career.
I’m sorry if you are from Oklahoma but compared to his former life its a long way from the normal hustle and bustle of New York. I was concerned a little when the show was announced to be set in Tulsa that the show would be at a slower pace than one set in New York or Los Angeles; The show is at a slightly slower pace but not in a bad way as we get to know all the side characters in the show. When the action does happen it face paced and well down.
Sylvester Stallone is extremely confident as the Mob capo not in a cocky way but in way that you believe he has really lived that live. Stallone looks amazing for his age and there is a funny scene when a women he meets and hooks up with Stacy (Andrea Savage) finds out that he is 75 and, not 55 that she expected.
Stacy who we later find is a DA Agent is one of a group of well casted actors around Sylvester Stallone who form his business partners and acquaintances which add depth to his character. Stallone’s character Dwight Manfredi we find out has many layers and not just a tough Mob guy from New York. This show is on my list of top shows im watching right now and definitely worth checking out.
